CosmoGirl Makeover August 8, 2008

Teen magazine CosmoGirl! debuted their new layout in the September 2008 issue. As an avid magazine reader (including Teen Vogue, CosmoGirl!, Seventeen and Vogue) I’ve come to appreciate the design and layouts of print media. The new CG! look is appealing because of its innovative use of colour and unique headline font. Most magazines tend to stick to simple Century Gothic or Verdana or something. This font is pretty nifty. Oh man, going on about fonts now. Anyways, pick up the new issue of CG!, if only to admire the design qualities.
Also – weird how my hair is basically the same as it was the summer between grade seven and eight.

You should see my closet. It’s honestly beautiful. I love to just sit on my bed and look at my closet. I’m really excited to get my dress back from the dry cleaning people so I can hang it in my closet. Yeah.
I have nothing to say.

It’s funny how when you reread things a few years later they have a whole different meaning to you. Stargirl, by Jerry Spinelli. Read it.
So I’ve spent the last few days or so working on my room. Hopefully I’ll get to paint and stuff, but my mom is like dead set on keeping my safari-ish theme. Whatever, mom. But my closet! Oh, my closet. With the help of Closetmaid I’ve got room for everything. I’m really quite pleased. Although I had intended to paint the inside of my closet hot pink, and it didn’t go down so well with my mother. She’s big on keeping the walls this disgusting yellow. We’ll see, mom. But anyways. It’s beautiful. And I’ve gone through everything and I’m donating all the old stuff/bad stuff to charity, to clear up some space too.
Anddddd! I found a pencil skirt at Goodwill and shortened it a bit, and it’s really quite lovely and I’m happy. I’m fully wearing it to work today.
Oh, and I bought a nice dress from Aritzia, it’s cute. It’s gray and sort of flowy-ish, I kind of love it a lot.

I really really really want to go thrift shopping. Shopping in general, really. I’m so desperate. But I’m holding out for the end of August. And then I shall spend like never before. It’s all part of the plan. But it really is hard to not shop. Particularly when I’m surrounded by all this material goodness on my break. It’s hard. So hard. But I’m really excited for longer shifts, oh man. It’s gonna be great. I’ll be so loaded. I’m completely happy that I’ll see major figures on my pay stub. Oh man. Why does everyone go to camp or whatever? I am so lonely, gawd.
But tomorrow I’ll be chillin’ like a villain with Winnie and a man, duh. They is good people.
STAMPEDE. I’m excited. Zoe, Bri, and hopefully Erin, and who ever else wants to come, really. We’ll shall pig out. Or, Zoe and I will pig out while Bri and Erin look on in disgust. Hahaha. You guys should really join the greasefest. I’ve been saving calories for this.

I’m liking my slow mornings with a whole bunch of green tea and Zoey Busick Wild Card. Oh, and What Not To Wear. They’re on at the same time so while one’s on commercials I watch the other, and I just kind of alternate. Then I’ll watch Tyra. I love Tyra. It’s been pretty qual.
Next week I’ll make about $250. I’m basically really excited. Today I made a list of all the things I want to buy. And Basically it totals at $500, roughly. So I just need to work two weeks to get it all. Oh man, I’m so ready to get my new stuff.
Jen and I ate laxative chocolate today. It was really funny because Heather, this kind of old but still cool lady we work with, was telling us how much we’d be shitting. Good times, indeed.
And, another bonus – I found this old skirt my grandma made that was really horrible at the time, but looks

Mmm, Metric. I’m going through a Metric phase right now.
Wish list: Samsung SC-X300L camcorder, iPod touch, MAC Skarkskin Shadestick, some nice boots. But maybe since my birthday is in August the last thing isn’t really an option.
I’m really excited for my plan. Maybe I’ll get my hair cut. Maybe I’ll get highlights! Oh, the possibilities!

Basically I failed already at my video plan.
No one reads this except for probably Bri, Erin and Winnie.
I quit the Slab, I’m happier now. I want to increase my Purdy’s hours. I’d rather work 5 hour shifts 4 times a week than do 3 hour shifts 7 times. But whatever. I will talk to my manager, I guess. But really, does everyone like chocolate? Because it’s assumed, I think. I mean, whenever people don’t know what to get someone they buy them a box of chocolates. This is completely unimportant, I suppose.
Oh, man. Marten’s jeans on Friday were really nice. I really out lamed myself this time.
I would share with you my plan for basically summer, but then I’d be laughed at for how superficial I am. So I’ll just leave it at that.
This has been a completely useless, waste-of-time post. Goodnight.

I had a really lovely post typed up on dip dye and tye-dye. But then my computer did funny things. Or maybe it’s WordPress. Either way, I’m too pissed to rewrite it. Maybe another day. But I did buy a nice dip dye tank, it’s lovely.
I finished The Sweet Far Thing, by Libba Bray. Oh, man. I cried a lot. And then I started crying about other things, because although we’ll see each other again, it won’t ever be completely the same. And now I’m crying again. Splendid. But the book. So, so good. And I know it’s one of those books that every girl my age has read, but somehow it’s different. It’s a lot better than the Twilight books, by far. I feel kind of stupid for liking it so much, because I’m supposed to. It’s been fed to me. But I also choose this.
